A superbly well-made view into a corrupt world., 27 January 2006
Author: S.C. Skafte from Nova Scotia, Canada
The references to "Wall Street" and "Glengarry Glen Ross" are not simple accidents. In fact, Ben Younger's "Boiler Room" could almost be seen as third film in a loose trilogy dealing with shareholder manipulation. At the very least, it matches those films in terms of quality. Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel, Ron Rifkin, Nicky Katt, and Ben Affleck (among others) make up the excellent ensemble cast. Vin Diesel is so good that it makes me wish he could return to his pre-"Fast and the Furious" days. Affleck is surprisingly serious as well. Ribisi covers a wide and difficult range of emotion, including a heartbreaking relationship with his father (Rifkin)."Boiler Room" is one of the best films of recent memory, and possesses a level of quality rare in modern cinema.
